Bagby-Turner papers [manuscript] 1855-1952.

Copies of correspondence (1855-71) of George William Bagby, Virginia author and editor, with Ellen Atwill Turner containing comments on social life in Lynchburg and Richmond, and on Bagby's short story "Badly kicked-- not by a horse," published in 1858. A clipping of 1898 gives a partial list of Virginia surgeons in Confederate service. Other letters (1861-66) relate to the Civil War career of George Kempton Turner, a Confederate Army surgeon. Includes correspondence (1929-52) of Helen S. Henderson (Mrs. A.T. Henderson) with Virginia librarians concerning the original letters.
